John Entwistle, bassist for the Who, died today. I realize that this entry title is in poor taste. But there you go. I see that it also the blurb for Entwistle's death over at stiffs.com but since I thought of it independently I'm going to use it.

My second thought after hearing about Entwistle's death was that the Who are now a band missing a drummer and a bassist. And that the Beatles are a band that are only a drummer and a bassist. So you know, there's a big tour in there somewhere. Thank you, I'll be expecting a check in the mail for that idea.

One last thing (yes, it' a very short entry). It really irks me that when a famous rock star dies, people always make some remark like "he's rocking up in heaven". Some even go so far as to present the line up for Heaven's house band. People say "He's rocking with Jimi and Janis and Jim". Enough! First of all, if there is a heaven (and don't get me started on that, Jim Morrison isn't there. I don't think he would find it any fun at all. And if heaven is supposed to be his final reward, don't you think he'd have ended up in a place that was a little more fun? Jim had a good time being bad and a great time pushing people's buttons. I don't really think they allow that much in heaven. Somehow I don't think that Jim Morrison's idea of paradise is playing rock music for all eternity and continually being asked by the newer angels if he really showed his dick on stage in Florida. That's just me.
