I played golf this afternoon. Since my company closes at noon on Fridays, I like to sneak away and practice a little golf. I worried that I might have to change my plans because of forecasted thunderstorms, but it was a beautiful afternoon (a wicked t-storm did pass through around 8:15 PM).
Like most beginning golfers, my immediate goal is to break 100. I've been scoring about 103-105 the last few times I've played. I played the first 9 holes at 49. That is the first time I've ever done 9 holes under 50. And the way I did it was weird. Look at my front nine:

Pretty inconsistant huh? I mean, a 9 then par. a 9 then par, 9 then par. But when I totalled it up, I thought that today was the day. Today would be the day I break 100. I could shoot a 50 on the back nine and still shoot 99. Well, look for yourself what actually happened.

I just collapsed. I think I got tired, because it was pretty sunny and humid. And I was walking the course. But really the reson was that I just couldn't be consistant. I mean, look at that first hole - another 9! The last five holes were just pitiful. And if you add it all up, it is another 104. Dammit! I need to work out a little more and get a little more endurance. I will break 100 this year.
