Four Months Gone By

Like I said in the last entry, it had been four months since I've started LS Place. But the journal is just one of the things that I started on January 1st, 2001. Lets look at how I'm am progressing so far.

Medical: In January, I made an appointment to have my yearly exam with my regular doctor. My last annual exam was three years ago. That appointment was actually in January so I won't need to go to that doctor again until 2004. I also made an appointment with an ear, nose, and throat doctor to find out what it would take to fix my nose and stop my snoring. That particular fiasco is still on going. I have had two sleep tests with a different doctor since then. Now I need to schedule another appointment with the original doctor. Claudine thought that when I made the original appointment in January that I could be operated on in February. Ha!

Getting in shape: At my annual checkup at the end of January, I weighed in at 233 lbs. At that point I had been working out for 3 & 1/2 weeks. Last week, I weighed in at the sleep doctor's office and I was 211 lbs. So that's at least 22 lbs since January 1st, possibly as much as 25 since I was weighed in the last week of January. Doing the math, that is about 5 lbs a month or 1-2 lbs a week. So I'm pretty happy with that. My face has really lost the "pudgyness" it had. I seem to have actual cheek and jaw bones, apparently they were there the whole time. I can sse the beginning of cuts appearing in my stomach. My "upper" stomach mind you, I still have a bit of a ring right above my waist. But its nothing like it was. I can wear all sorts of clothing that I couldn't wear a year ago. All in all, I'm very happy with this process so far. I'm composing a separate page (still!) outlining the hows and whys of what I've done so far.

Work: Interesting, but not compelling. I am trying to really throw myself into it, but I'm not always sucessful. Starting this week, I am working a full 40 hours, instead of 32 hours. Believe it or not, I was getting frustrated not being able to get things done in a 6 or 7 hour day. (Of course, the T1 and my internet addiction doesn't really help). I worked 2 40 hour weeks about a month ago and I got an incredible amount of stuff done. So we'll see how this works out. In a few years, I may not have to work at all, (didn't everyone marry a doctor?) so I can't really complain.

This Journal: Well, I'd like to update more often, but I don't really know how to make that happen. I'm not that good at budgeting my time, so I haven't been able to make updating become a habit yet. But we'll see. I am frustrated about all the extras that I haven't gotten to yet. The bio, the other people in my life, all the other junk that helps flesh out a journal. Also, my layout is incredibly simple. I see so many cool ideas out there, but I don't want to rip anybody off. I've got to come up with my own angle on this thing. The only other thing I'd like to get is just one e-mail from stranger who has read this thing. Someone who has discovered the journal by accident. Actually, I'd just like an e-mail from ANYone. Even if to tell me that something sucks.

While writing this entry, Robin Ventura of the Mets, hit his 15th Grand Slam of his career, putting the Mets up 7-4 over the Astros in the 7th inning.
