Ack. Annabel is not yet three weeks old and she already has a cold. It may be related to her 2 year old brother who loves her very much, so much so that he coughs right in her face. She's really congested and as such, is really cranky and doesn't sleep well. Except when she's on The Magic Shoulder TM. Apparently, my left shoulder is The Magic Shoulder TM. Whenever I hoist her up on The Magic Shoulder TM and bounce her around a bit, she conks right out. And it isn't limited to Annie. Both Jake and Bobby were susceptible to The Magic Shoulder TM when they were growing up. Anyway, I woke up around 4:30 this morning to find Claudine about to loose it. She hadn't slept much at all during the night. So we handed off and I went downstairs with Annie up on The Magic Shoulder TM.
The problem with The Magic Shoulder TM is that it doesn't work at less than a 60 degree angle. Which means that I can't actually lay down with her and expect her to stay asleep. So I have to prop myself up as best I can to get comfortable while she snores away in my face. I kind of drifted off around 5:25 only to hear Bobby's little footsteps padding down the hall at around 5:40. Then I had to dash up the stairs because I suddenly remembered that my alarm was going to go off at 6:00 and I hadn't shut it off when I got up. I was able to put Annie in her crib (which is still in our room) and she and Claudine slept for another hour. I took a shower and got the boys dressed, fed and ready for school/day care.
So I was no good at work today. Some of my time was spent playing such productive games as Slime Volleyball, Mini Putt and Speed Marbles. Oh, and I also spent some time today chasing down an SMTP problem that turned out to be corrupted records at our ISP.
